I grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo and am a proud graduate of St. Jerome’s highschool and the universities of Waterloo and Toronto. As professor, I excel at engaging students in fieldwork, and conduct pioneered research in the field of health geography. Outside of work, I volunteer extensively in the community, including as chair of an award-winning charity that generates post-secondary school scholarships, as chef for the needy at a church, as board member of my community association, and advisor to a rail trail that runs from Guelph to Goderich. For fun, I have been fat-tire ebiking several times a week with a tribe of friends, brewing beer, and spending as much time as possible with my grandsons.
