The agency provides both community development real estate facilities and a diverse array of workforce, education, and human service that directly support predominantly low-income US-born high-barrier families and individuals, refugees, immigrants, transitional age youth, seniors, and other special populations such as individuals with disabilities.Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Youth Employment Program Supervisor, the Summer Job Program Fellowship will provide intensive case management support to program staff to serve Oakland youth aged 16- 24 including outreach, recruitment, intake assessment, job readiness workshops, mock interviews, worksite matching and placements support and annual youth leadership summit.

EBAYS (The East Bay Academy for Young Scientists) is a program based at the Lawrence Hall of Science at UC Berkeley that provides the youth with opportunities to conduct community-based scientific research that addresses pressing environmental and social concerns.- Collected soil samples analyzing lead levels in local neighborhoods- Used portable XRF spectrometer to measure lead levels as well as other contaminants in the soil- Compiled data and created PowerPoint to present findings- Presented findings at the Annual Youth Summit Conference at LFCD to spread local awareness of soil contamination- Led presentation showing results to a government agency, giving background information on lead contamination in the local community to help them make informed political decisions
