I led a technical team of ~30 to build a modern Loyalty experience for Loblaws, including a React.js client, a Spring API, and two native mobile apps. I managed the architectural decisions, development process, and business context for this major Digital initiative. We were the trailblazers in microservice design, stream processing, and Kubernetes at Loblaw Digital.We launched the program at full, national scale, and I am so proud of everything the team accomplished. It is still under active development, following many of the tenets that I initially laid out.

I worked closely with upper management and all members of the team to implement a development process and build/test toolchain to help maintain pace without sacrificing reliability. I also spearheaded several refactoring/re-architecting projects with senior engineers to improve the long-term maintainability of the codebase. Throughout, I helped improve communication across the team, including developing roadmaps and issue prioritization tracking.SiteScout RTB had numerous interesting software challenges, including high-throughput / high-concurrency bid processing, web UI usability and design, statistical and learning models, and "big data" streaming and analysis. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow as a software engineer and as a manager within a difficult environment. -
