Resident Engineer on the Blanchardstown Regional Drainage Scheme (BRDS) 9C Sewer Duplication and Storage Contract that provides for the construction of a combined sewer via trenchless techniques (1km of 1.5m & 2km of 1.8m dia. pipes), including 9 No. launch/reception shafts and 3 No. cross-connections to an adjacent existing sewer; and construction of a pumping station with underground storage tanks with a combined storage capacity of 30,000m3 at a value of €58m. The works predominately take place in the TOlka Valley Park which poses challenges for micro-tunnelling due to low cover. Responsible for overseeing the construction phase ensuring the employer’s requirements were adhered to, reviewing pertinent contractor documents, assessment of Contractor claims and payment application, assessment of Contractor performance against Contractual KPI's, reporting to senior resident engineers and supervision of the installation of launch/reception shafts, micro tunnelling and conversion of shafts to manholes.

Resident Engineer/Acting Senior RE on the TGSB Bundle that involved the upgrades to existing wastewater treatment plants serving three towns and one village across County Sligo to provide for modern, efficient and economically sustainable treatment of wastewater. The main objective of the scheme was to provide immediate and long-term improvement and expansion of the existing plants through a design, build and operate contract. On completion, the combined PE increased from 3310 to 8300 providing huge benefits to the local communities. The appointed Contractor constructed sequencing batch reactors (SBR’s) for three of the facilities and a rotating biological contactor (RBC) system for the remaining facility. The project also included for the MEICA upgrades to the pumping station at the Caravan Park located in Strandhill, construction of a new 600mm dia. CSO pipeline and rising main for the Tubbercurry plant. Constructability concerns at the Strandhill site were the saline environment, the close proximity of Sligo Airport and the surrounding SAC, with specific conditions incorporated into the contract to prevent the impact to the surrounding habitat during construction. Responsible for overseeing the construction phase ensuring the employer’s requirements were adhered to, reviewing pertinent contractor documents, assessment of Contractor claims and payment application, supervision of the works, assessment of Contractor performance against Contractual KPI's and reporting to IW on progress of works.

• Assistant RE on North Docklands Sewerage Scheme Contract 4B that involved the upgrade of existing sewerage infrastructure within the Spencer Dock area of the North Docklands in Dublin City which facilitated the transfer of flows from Sheriff Street Upper and Castleforbes Road to the new Spencer Dock Pumping Station at value of €8.5m.• Works consisted of tunnelling using TBM to accommodate 600mm and 1500mm concrete pipes.• Work also included the construction and sinking of launch and reception shafts ranging in diameters of 3-7m at depths ranging between 8-10m by Caisson method of construction.• Responsible for on-site supervision during construction, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with the specifications, health, safety and environment standards.• Reporting directly to the Senior Resident Engineer on progress of works and reviewing method statements

• Project Manager/Engineer for the design and construction of two wastewater treatment facilities; a new 21Ha evaporation pond, pumping station and directional drilled force main while the other included a 2.6Ha expansion to the existing treatment cell, overflow manhole and drainage ditches to accommodate for existing and projected population growth. Pre-construction responsibilities design, preparing detailed drawings and contract specifications, coordinating and liaising all works with local authorities, government agencies, local land owners, Town Councils and legal advisors to obtain permits to construct, cost benefit analysis, risk assessments, tender summary and recommendation and pre-construction kick-off meetings. Construction responsibilities included supervision and management of works during construction, contract administration (progress payments, change orders, project close-out etc.), ensuring all works were carried out in accordance with the contract documentation, specifications, health, safety and environmental standards• Designed road structures for a 15-year design period using traffic count information and geotechnical data.• Prepared preliminary design drawings and a rezoning package report for a 132 acre industrial development through consultation with major stakeholders, development of a TIA and preparation of a drainage study to ensure the development met the visions and objectives for the area.• Designed and prepared conceptual drainage studies and reports for residential and industrial developments.• Part of a team of Engineers to document and report on flood damage claims to essential public infrastructure throughout the province as part of a government disaster assistance program.• On-site supervision for projects relating to HDPE directional drilling, HDPE butt-fusion, AC pipe removal, pumping station installation, bulk excavations and construction of embankments, road construction, foul, storm and water installation and testing.
