I manage all ProjectWise activities and lead the coordination of multidisciplinary designs across civil/structural, electrical, telecoms, drainage, and architectural teams. I train the team in Bentley software, ensure ISO 19650 compliance, and provide civil and structural design solutions for Network Rail projects. My role also involves resource forecasting, ensuring projects are well-staffed and aligned with best practices.

I provide ad-hoc engineering designs, BIM models, and CAD drawings for a range of Network Rail bridge replacements and refurbishments.

Managing a team of 30+ CAD Technicians, BIM Modellers & RC Detailers over multiple projects within Rendel.I'm heavily involved in the delivery of the Colne Valley Viaduct BIM Models & drawings as well as managing the CAD & BIM resources over multiple other projects including other parts of the HS2 C1 contract, Melbourne Metro & Peru River Works which requires me to have a broad understanding of all CAD/BIM software capabilities & various different CAD/BIM standards.

Modelling of the HS2 Colne Valley Viaduct using various Bentley software packages; aspects of the design include large bespoke concrete piers, piles and pile caps, bridge deck modelling, drainage, pre-stressing etc.Collaborating with other teams in the Align joint venture to reach the required level of meta-data for the BIM model, allowing easy extraction from the federated model.

Producing detailed 3D designs for a number of Crossrail Stations, working to strict deadlines and collaborating closely with the client and other consultancies.

Producing 3D designs for heavy civil / structural aspects of the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project.

I worked for SKM; a large Australian engineering company - through my limited company (Cartmell CAD Designs Ltd.) in their London office (merged with Jacobs in 2014.) I worked within a large multidisciplinary rail team, producing detailed drawings using Microstation V8i mainly for several large railway depots which house and maintain the London underground trains, but I also spent a small amount of time working on Crossrail.

I spent 8 months at Morgan Sindall working in a small rail team on several track-redoubling projects. I predominantly used Microstation V8i but also occasionally used AutoCAD 2012 working closely with senior engineers to produce drawings from feasibility through to detailed design. I worked mainly on bridge repair and trackside equipment drawings (REB's, Signal bases etc.) but I also had the chance to produce some earthwork and level crossing drawings.

I worked at Arup for over 5 years using Microstation V8, XM, V8i and Bentley Structural 3D. I also spent over a year using AutoCAD 2008 and 2011 in an MEP department. I spent over 2 years in a bridges team, 2 years in a rail team, several months in geotechnics and a year in MEP using CAD software. I worked for over 3000 hours on the Olympics whilst in the bridges team and have worked on initial designs for HS2 in rail, plus an array of other medium sized projects.
