One of founding members of a high-quality local magazine. Using the talented staff from the now closed Chameleon Group who nominated me to be the General Manager. I setup the technical infrastructure, assisted in the business setup, accounts, sales, design interviewed new staff, gave training, and did the purchasing negotiations with suppliers.

I built and managed a number of company and customer websites, managed a number of online marketing strategies; and also looked after the entire IT infrastructure and communication systems for the company. I also trained other staff members on various technical tasks. A very busy role that required good focus on business objectives with a high degree of technical knowledge.

Originally employed to give advice/assistance on making websites compatible for mobile devices, then later employed to help develop a number of other projects. I re-developed all the interactive maps, creating a much better user experience while adding many additional features; added custom wayfinding functions, accurate GPS tracking, a search function that could now locate faculties, courses, people, as well as places, and features that allowed its entire dataset easily be updated.I also created and maintained a number of business web applications written using ColdFusion and Oracle technologies for the University. Main projects being; student applicants database for the medical faculty, server request tracking for the networking team, project time tracking for the information services, and GIS admin and feedback tools for the estate office.

Provided technical advice and assistance in developing and documenting information systems with JCU’s estate office. I documented a broad variety of systems with a view of improving integration and create online software that showed live statistics using data from a number of different connections to these systems.

Developed a number of websites from scratch using raw html5, css3, Javascript, php and mysql. Lots of time spent on optimising user experience across various browsers including tablet and mobile devices. Also spent time working with Google map APIs and provided technical support for business clients.

Short term work fixing and updating their main asp.net ecommerce internet ordering system that is heavily used by the distributor network.

Responsible for a large number of the business websites, Increased websites stability and visibility, and significantly reduced running costs, through hands-on migration of webservers and collating web services. I also SEOed the sites which brought greater numbers of users and did a large number of improvements that enhanced server performance; All of which made online marketing much more profitable for this business.

Responsible for the company's IT infrastructure and creator of a large number of e-commerce websites, including a self made ordering system which received £13 million of orders within its first year.Role included buying, installing and upgrading the hardware, including switches, desktops and numerous servers and a good understand of the various Microsoft’s new Licensing agreements..!

A temporary position providing technical consultation and computer maintenance to retail customers and other staff members.Fixing a wide range of hardware problems, configuring and resolving software issues, building, installing and upgrading machines with new hardware & software usually operating within set deadlines whilst in a very busy customer orientated environment. Sort of problems included restoring systems after a major virus attack; installing drivers for unknown hardware; fixing laptops with coffee inside; testing hardware relating to intermittent issues; moving active data to larger storage media; Internet connection and modem problems, on a range of different branded hardware.

Supporting all of Motorola sites in Europe, Asia and South Africa. First line resolution for the whole IT infrastructure; From PC to mainframe applications and various types of email systems including outlook and Netscape mail. Providing multi-domain administration and support on it’s NT and Unix systems including such administration like creating & removing user NT & Unix accounts; checking exchange mailbox configuration; configuration of Internet applications etc.

Recruited to run a 10 strong team into resolving ongoing multiple computer related issues within a very large company network; to co-ordinate the team in such a manner for us to be effective and efficient. We provided desktop PCs and server support for around 3000 users working in the Sun Life Insurance office buildings. Compile accurate clear reports on how well this was being done with focus on current issues and predicting future bottlenecks. The business used a number of windows and Novell based operating systems, along with a mix of Microsoft (MS Office 97), Lotus Notes and Mainframe applications. This team soon located the root cause of most IT issues which lead to many staff having to leave due to lack of required future support!

Acting as a computer hardware/software consultant and purchaser for the managers within National Power.I was responsible for purchasing of technical hardware and software for around thirty sites around the U.K. Simultaneously handling around 70 different requests at any one time while liaison with various station managers and with external suppliers. ⦁ Checking business justifications with managers and financial controllers for requested resources. ⦁ Checking and adjusting requests to comply with current infrastructure and Y2K issues. ⦁ Obtaining architectural authorisation for non-standard requests. ⦁ The administrative purchasing of technical equipment. ⦁ Cross charging costs through different budget areas. ⦁ Organising re-allocation and disposal of equipment. ⦁ Tracking all technical asset movements. National Power’s general infrastructure was NT throughout with MS Office 97 pro on all workstations, with mainframe for critical database applications.

Other Projects involved in at Meggitt Electronics⦁ Created comprehensive Materials Control Software for Holsworthy Electronics’ to manage a range of graded materials stock.⦁ Built software to check the syntax of all of the company’s 30,000 part numbers, previously done manually.⦁ Maintained and improved software for Laser Welding Robot. A precision machine which I improved its efficiency by 600% by re-programming its PASCAL software. ⦁ Heavily involved in setting up new MRPII system ('MAX' running on UNIX), which held and processed all data connected with engineering, production, stock and costing of all materials.
