Sebastian Jose is the principal founder of Silpi Architects and the dean of APJ Abdul Kalam School of Environmental Design (SEED). He has an experience of over two decades in the field of architecture. His exposure to the industry while pursuing education gives him an understanding of the need for industrial exposure to the students and benefits to the education sector with the involvement of architects as academicians. He pursued his graduation from Kerala University and Masters from School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi in the year 1998. Post his education, he worked with Design Combines which is in operation for the past 41 years and then founded Silpi Architects in the year 2000 in Cochin. His association with many educational institutions and exposure to work while studying give him an in-depth knowledge of how the architecture institutions can be leveraged and students can get a quality education. Having a very strong connect with architects across the world, including Indians and other nationals, he has been trying to introduce international standards of education in SEED . As a practicing architect, he has built over 1,200 properties to date, served as an office-bearer for the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Indian Society of Landcsape Architects (ISOLA)and the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) and also an active member in these organizations. He was the convenor of the hugely successful ISOLA National conference 2019 held at Kochi . He has also been recognized as one of the top 50 gen-next architects of India Architect & interiors India magazine, in the year 2013 and currently serving as president of Lions Club Kochi East.
