Business Owner And Uav Survey EngineerMapcad3D Gmbh Apr 2020 - PresentDortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, GermanyAs General Manager and owner of a MapCad3D GmbH, I have the privilege of being involved in almost all parts of our business, from managing a team of UAV-surveyors, meeting with our customers to understand their problems to getting my hands dirty in actual field work.I regularly fly LiDAR and photogrammetry missions from small areas of 10 ha up to big projects of 10 km² and more. I love photogrammetry as much as LiDAR survey for their different aspects and capabilities and I get a lot of satisfaction from accuracy reports that indicate that we are working up to spec.Since LiDAR point-cloud processing was the subject of my master thesis back in 2018 at the University of Göttingen (Chair of Remote Sensing and Forest Inventory), I really enjoy the processing part as well. We work with many batch-scripted processes that allows us to evolve and automate the processing of large point clouds and use state-of-the-art algorithms to detect and classify features.The most exciting part for me is when we encounter new challenges that arise because our customers are trying to innovate or automate processes. Mapping Expert For Open-Source Gis ApplicationsStapelfeldt Ingenieurgesellschaft Mbh May 2019 - Apr 2020DortmundStapelfeldt Ingenieursgesellschaft is one of only three noise modelling software developers in the world (with a considerable market share) and provides services for national noise modelling endeavours as well as their own LiMA and ODEN noise modelling software. At Stapelfeldt, I was tasked with implementing the integration, development and testing of the LiMA QGIS plugin. This plugin serves as a connector between the powerful Fortran-based LimA noise modelling software and Quantum GIS.I created a library of case studies and tutorials in QGIS where I ran noise simulations for whole cities and different noise sources (point as well as line and area sources) including data preparation and visualisations of the results in 2D and 3D. These case studies were then used for the wiki page that I set up as a knowledge base for our customers.Last but not least, I created current Stapelfeldt website which included coding in html, css, markdown and supervising freelancers to do the things that were outside of my capabilities like java script and PHP.

Lean Management Trainer, Assistant To Head Office FuldaLandesbetrieb Hessen-Forst Mar 2015 - Apr 2019Fulda Area, GermanyI started my 4 year journey at HessenForst in 2015 when I enrolled in their forest engineering trainee program. During this first year I was deployed to the Forstamt Neukirchen and Burgwald for 6 months each. The training focused on all aspects of forest management as practiced in Germany, including forest harvesting, nature conservation, game management, restoration, forest pedagogy, work safety and lumber markets.I finished the trainee year as best in class and chose to take up my first position at Forstamt Fulda in 2016. In my first role as technical assistant (Ftec) at Forstamt Fulda I was responsible for overseeing forest harvesting operations, contractor supervision and game management. At that time I was also actively participating in the lean-management projects that were under development at the Forstamt Fulda. These projects included for example standardization of forest harvesting workflows or improving game harvesting operations by setting in place standard operating procedures.In 2017 I enrolled in the lean-management training course from HessenForst and officially became a lean-management trainer while still tending to my daily management duties in Fulda. The job of a lean-management trainer at HessenForst is to visit other head offices and teach their staff about lean management and Kaizen principles as well as leading local teams to implement these principles in the processes that need attention. From 2018 on, I was responsible for the management of a 1800 ha wood lot comprised of 1200 ha state forest and 600 ha of private and community forest on top of my lean-manager role. With this new assignment I saw myself mostly occupied with forest harvesting preparation, game management and forest pedagogy work.
