Glass - Coffee House and Surf Gallery was a collaboration of my wife and I with another couple on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. We aimed to create something unique that filled a market gap in connecting surfers, artists, coffee enthusiasts and the local community. We successfully built this business from the ground up, turning an empty space into a hub of activity. Responsibilities included but was not limited to:- Established a multi-aspect business from the ground up including accounting systems, POS systems, processes and policies, labour, wages, and the sourcing of quality suppliers, SOP’s and risk management practices.- Solid understanding of Award Agreement and industry legislation.- Involved in the day to day operations of Glass.- Provide on the job training for employees.- Develop SOP’s for a safe and effective working environment.- Maintain CRM database with up to date information on suppliers, stock levels and customers information.- Successful management of 13 staff.- Maintain quality relationships with clients, suppliers, staff and other business owners.- Commitment towards ensuring the health and safety of my colleagues and work environment is priority.An arm of the business was a retail space with custom made surfboards from Mitch Surman of MSSurfboards and a photography gallery curated with my photographs [ www.sebastianrobison.com ] of the local beach lifestyle and my travels. At the beginning of 2017, my wife and I sold this business to move back to Brisbane and establish careers after getting married. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of owning my own business and feel it enabled me to learn and educate myself in a variety of experiences.

Caval Ridge - Moranbah - Fifo

This opportunity was offered to me after my contributions to the successful recruitment of a 600 strong workforce at the new Caval Ridge and Daunia mine sites. (Refer to next role below) Having worked closely with the management teams of Caval Ridge, and being on a fixed term contract for the Project Recruitment, the maintenance managers extended an offer to continue to contribute the successful culture I had worked hard to develop with the team as a Service Person at site. This invaluable experience provided me with a wealth of knowledge and the ‘at the coal face’ conditions that goes with site life. I left this role on good terms to start my own business which has flourished successfully and am grateful for the experience.

I was part of the BMA Project group to recruit over 600 new roles (white and blue collar campaigns) using PageUp to facilitate the labour requirements of BMA's Caval Ridge and Daunia mine sites in the Bowen Basin of Queensland, Australia. My responsibilities included end to end recruitment, strategic sourcing campaigns, the development, facilitation, execution and review of 30+ group assessment centres in Brisbane and Cairns, psychometric testing, behavioral interviewing and PageUp Super user reporting and sourcing.
