About Sebastián M.

18 years of experience in international development, diplomacy, leading and advising on gender justice and social justice issues, I am passionate about transforming organizational cultures and practices to advance intersectional feminism and human rights, from workplaces to projects in countries. As the Intersectional Feminism Manager at Oxfam America, I lead strategic work to translate the organization's commitments to intersectional feminism into concrete tools and sustained practice, working closely with the senior leadership and cross-divisional teams.I also co-lead a network of 30 people advancing feminist principles and justice within and beyond Oxfam America, and facilitate the "Men and Masculinities" group, which has engaged over 115 staff in challenging harmful gender norms and roles. Additionally, I spearheaded an internal advocacy campaign to improve the organization's parental leave policies, resulting in a change from 25 days to 12 weeks of fully paid leave and the development of a global policy for the Oxfam Confederation. Through my online advocacy initiative, DGR, I mentor young professionals from across the world and spark conversations about redefining masculinity. I am a seasoned communicator for change, in writing and podcasts around the world on issues of gender, international development, masculinity, and transforming organizations in the INGO sector.
