About Seb Choe

Seb Choe is a gender-fluid Korean-American architectural researcher and community organizer. Choe is Associate Director of MIXdesign, a New York-based inclusive design think tank and consultancy that works to make everyday building types including restrooms, university campuses, workplaces, hospitals and art museums accessible and welcoming to people of different ages, genders, cultures, religions and abilities. As a community organizer and popular educator, Choe is a director with Friends of Gadsden Creek, a South Carolina-based environmental justice campaign opposing gentrification in a historically Black community. Choe was a 2020 Fellow with the Carolina Youth Action Project, a QPOC-led abolitionist organization that builds power alongside trans and gender non-conforming youth. Choe’s award-winning practice produces books, built-installations, film, music, and writing that have been covered in The New York Times, 99% Invisible, Vice, PIN-UP Magazine, and the 2021 Venice Biennale.
