A left wing propaganda site, http://nerariyan.com floated by a few pro-left journalists working in some front-running newspapers, needed an experienced hand in web-media for its soft launch. They hired me for a short period through which, I took the responsibility of hiring editorial members and tweaking its content.

An initiative of some journalists based in Bangalore who where former employees of Tehelka and Narada, hired me to startup their web portal. My brief was to design a multi-language south Indian portal from ground-up catering 6 major cities with localised content. From naming the website, ‘The Metropolitan Post’ and booking the domain, http://metropost.in I did most of the initial works including interface design for both desktop and mobile sites.

As one among the few initiators' of the ongoing cultural project, 'Janaavishkaara', I helped to soft-board it from the idea realm to a functioning praxis that networks people's expressions across the state of Kerala. http://www.janaavishkaara.in/ is a people's participatory portal designed to build a counter-narrative against the dangerous and majoritarian common sense engulfing the present cultural and political discourse in India. The web project is supported by Kerala Sahitya Academy, Njanodayam Vayanashala Koratti, and Moozhikkulam Shalai and is an independent body running on a zero-budget plan using a volunteer base that aligns with the core idea of resistance.

As the resident editor of Narada News Malayalam Edition, I transitioned the media brand from a flash news portal to a no-nonsense current affairs portal. During the tenure, the website saw a giant leap in terms of readership and made its mark by providing trust-worthy stories.

As an independent freelance consultant contracted by Zyxware Technologies, I act as a bridge between media houses and the company, maintain liaison, consult on web strategies, input methods, workflow automation, technology briefing, user-end training and the like.

I was instrumental in redesigning the portal, http://marunadanmalayali.com, previously run in ISCII encoding, from ground zero to cope with the Unicode era. I introduced automated workflow management in the organisation and contributed into the change in work culture within the organisation. Initiated best practices in journalism during my tenure. Also contributed in setting up metromalayali.in

Myself with four of my friends were trying to setup an e-commerce company. Unfortunately, due to the demise of my child, I had to part with the idea.

As the founder editor of the first news analysis website in Malayalam, I was responsible to scout for and zero up on potential writers who could provide deep insight in the subjects, they are writing. Had designed and executed peculiar columns in the portal that attracted many readers.

Though the official designation was of senior correspondent, my briefing was to edit a page christened work, and instead of byline, I was credited for the page itself. Practically, I had to prepare stories, edit it, layout it, and make sure, it goes to production on time. The beat was science and technology. Focus was on industrial practice, innovation, entrepreneurship and philosophy. I always feel, the title should have been, News Editor (Science and Technology).

As the editorial and cultural marketing head of Kalakaumudi, a newspaper for the Malayalees residing in Mumbai, it was my call to design the daily according to the tastes of expatriates. I took this position in a period of extreme stress as other giants like Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhoomi had already eaten into the subscription and revenues of the organisation. My primary responsibility was to arrest the sinking subscription and make sure, the newspaper's interests are protected in the crowded market.

Participated in planning of the forthcoming issues, proof reading and copy editing the stories, and overlooked production line from data entry to pagination and layout.

I had to file stories on various subjects as per the direction of the editor. Had also done a couple of interviews for the magazine.

I was responsible to prepare dossiers, press notes, public speech, etc on behalf of the Chairman and was also responsible for co-ordinating press conferences, liaison with news editors in various media houses and make sure, the organisation gets ample media space.

According the the briefing, I was supposed to prepare content for broachers, pullouts, marketing features etc.

Whetting stories for publishing in Kalakaumudi daily and weekly, Preparing stories for Vellinakshatram, Co-ordinating Vellinakshatram film year book, Filing stories for Snehitha women's magazine.

I was a cub journalist who took up internship as part of my diploma in NewMedia Studies, continued a little more than the offer permitted, and was assigned for routine stories from the bureau. Taking bites, vox-populi etc, and putting them as visual stories, giving voice over, was my job. I was also supposed to call each police stations in Thiruvananthapuram district twice a day, to ascertain whether any new crime stories broke out. A sort of sentry duty, I may call it.

My first business venture that was into the distribution of Syndex PUF insulated boxes. It was later closed down due to losses.
