Development Manager

Southampton, England, United Kingdom

I build relationships with alumni through providing opportunities to engage with the University, including by supporting our Ignite Programme for widening student participation.

International Stakeholder Coordinator

Southampton, United Kingdom

It was my duty to coordinate BRECcIA's stakeholder mapping, identification, and communication to ensure high project impact. In BRECcIA's upscaling of its research through the synthesis of nearly 30 Small Research Projects (SRPs) into 9 Large Research Projects (LRPs), I was responsible for the development of the project's International Communication Strategy regarding stakeholder engagement in this crucial phase, and how we may increase the level of beneficial engagement within our existing stakeholder network.Toward project end, I was mostly involved with maximising outreach, ensuring that project outputs and policy recommendations were reaching the most influential key stakeholders in order to create real world impacts. These stakeholders include regional and national level policy makers in Malawi, Kenya and Ghana. Establishing links and communication channels between stakeholders for the benefit of BRECcIA requires an appreciation of the needs and wants of potential stakeholders and how these might complement the aims and objectives of the project.

Translator

I regularly completed document and other text translations from German to English and vice versa. As a native speaker of English and German, I am particularly good at translating subtleties or double meanings which can be notoriously difficult to translate. Linked is an example of the same document in English and German, that I translated from English to German on behalf of KATE in coordination with Scottish NGO 'Highland One World' and Austrian NGO 'Suedwind' for 'Start the Change!'. Some deviation in content and design is due to the different needs of each country in 'STC!'.

Environment And Csr Intern, Junior Researcher For Germany In Eu Funded 'Start The Change!' Project

Stuttgart, Germany

Internship completed as part of ERASMUS+ semester. This placement saw me in the role of Junior Researcher for Germany in the EU Commission funded 'Start the Change!' project. This ongoing 3 year project spanning 12 EU countries aims to promote young people's active engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and for the duration of my internship I helped organise teacher training workshops, SDG educational events and relay my compiled participation data to the University of Milan for progress checks. I was also tasked with setting up and updating the German social media pages for the project.I was involved as Project Coordinator in Migration (be-)greifbar machen. I contributed to initial set up of the project funded by the German department for international economic development and cooperation.I was also involved as Sustainable Church Network Coordinator for 'KirUm', where I produced newsletters and helped certify churches with EMAS certificates, whilst seeking to expand the sustainable network of churches across Germany, Switzerland and France. Outside of project work I was responsible for day to day customer service, first port of call for enquiries and lead translator for any German to English, as well as other secretary and assistant duties. I attended sustainability events and conferences to network and advocate for more sustainability, such as at the prominent 'Nachhaltig Gut Leben 2018' (Live well sustainably 2018). Thanks to my submission entry on behalf of KATE for the most sustainable small office award in Germany, we won the 2018 edition. I continued to work for KATE part time until 2020, remotely from the UK. I was asked to remain employed within the organisation after the internship had ended so that the organisation could make further use of my skills and knowledge.

Men'S 1St Team Water Polo, Co-Captain And Player

Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom

I was contracted as co-captain and player for the men's first team in water polo as part of my student scholarship athlete conditions. I was contracted to a minimum of 10 hours of coach supervised training per week (out of an offered 14 hours), with an average of two competitive matches per month, not including administrative duties such as attending anti-doping seminars, nutrition lectures and tactics discussions to feed-back to the team. With the exception of my hiatus during the 2017/2018 season for an Erasmus+ year abroad, I co - captained and played for Northumbria in the top annual university championship in the UK under British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS). My career with Northumbria saw the team's final standing in the annual championship rise from being knocked out in the round of final 16 in the 2015/2016 season, coming 3rd in the 2016/2017 season to winning 2nd place in the 2018/2019 season. This made us de facto the second best team in the UK, and is the highest standing Northumbria has ever achieved, still accurate as of 2023. This was against expectations that we would not advance past the semi-finals by pundits at the time. My performance and role in this final season success was recognised with a Half-Colour Sports Ahievement Award, awarded to me at the 2019 Annual Sports Awards Ceremony.

Database Administrator

Stuttgart, Germany

As part of my ERASMUS+ semester working with kate Umwelt & Entwicklung e.V., I was offered work as Database Administrator for their partner organisation Avanti GreenSoftware. Avanti offers software solutions for businesses or other organisations looking to improve their resource use sustainability. Avanti GreenSoftware is EMAS compatible, which allows clients access to expert consultation and a user friendly database to help achieve EMAS accreditation. After completion of my internship, I continued to work for Avanti remotely from the UK for a further 7 months to assist in the completion of database transfer to the newer software version.
