The Chaplaincy at Manchester Airport was established at the airport in 1980 and became a registered charitable company in 1997. It provides pastoral, spiritual care and guidance to all who work at the airport and for all those who travel through it.Along with the rest of the Board I provide counsel on a range of issues and provide governance, alongside my day to day PR role at the airport.

In my role I'm responsible for the strategic running of the Press Office for Manchester Airport, this includes heading up the Social Media and Filming team. I head up all media activity, proactive campaigns & stakeholder engagement, to showcase the offering but also reactive work including crisis management & industry/regulatory issues. As part of my remit I am also responsible for the forward planning for all PR activity to ensure the right content goes out at the right time to meet the desired objectives of the Corporate Affairs Department. This includes working with a range of 3rd parties to plan key announcements, launches & MAG initiatives.Before a restructure I also oversaw the entire PR for MAG Property & our £800m Airport City project. This included setting up & managing speaking opportunities, corporate profiling for our Property CEO & announcing the latest deals & lettings. It also included hiring and briefing international PR agencies. My role also sees me working closely with our Executive Committee & senior members of staff. This includes giving counsel on a wide range of issues and giving advice from a media point of view during a crisis. As well as this I brief them for interviews and work with the team to draft features and articles on a wide range of aviation topics.I also work incredibly closely with Public Affairs and our CSR team to ensure communication strategies are aligned and fully integrated, this includes stakeholder and community engagement.As well as the management of five members of staff, my role includes the management of several PR agencies, to ensure results are in line with our desired PR strategies. As part of my work on Airport City I sourced and created a PR brief to tender for a Chinese PR agency to help with international investor relations directly in China. I appointed & managed the agency through the entire process, leading to strong coverage & an incredibly successful campaign in the Far East.

I joined the External Communications team in July 2013 to help deliver a hardworking Press Office for MAG. I decided to leave Weber Shandwick in order to gain in-house experience. MAG owns and operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands Airports. As well as being part of a dedicated reactive & proactive Press Office team for the airports, I also managed & create the global PR strategy for MAG Property & Airport City.Airport City is an £800m project at Manchester Airport and we've had significant media interest in the development. In October 2013 I masterminded the media execution/strategy for our joint venture announcement. This was done by the Chancellor George Osborne out in Beijing and I managed The Treasury, Marketing Manchester, UKTI and Embassy in China to ensure media coverage and awareness for the launch was vast, yet strategic and targeted. Within less than a week my media strategy generated 895 pieces of coverage with an AVE in excess of £8.5m, which led to traffic to the Airport City website increasing by 4,670% on launch day.Crisis comms and management is also a large area of my role where I planned, prepared and managed any potential situation. This could be aircraft emergencies or industry issues. I was the on call Press Officer in December 2013 when NATS had the UK air traffic control glitch and spun the story into a positive for Manchester Airport as we remained fully operational. This led to several glowing reports on Sky News that day, armed with MAG's key messages.

As part of my role as Creative Director, as well as heading up a full account team, I inspired and nurtured strategic creative thinking across the whole agency to generate innovative, fresh, newsworthy ideas that were deliverable for clients. I worked with the consumer and corporate teams to develop standout creative campaigns with a strong news and media appeal, whilst maintaining on-brand client messaging that resonated with the end consumer.I would lead workshops, attend speaking events, plus draft features for regional business and trade press on the power of creativity in the work place.As part of this role I also undertook guest lectures at Manchester universities with PR students, something I continue to do now at MAG.Through my work with the Ainscough Group at Weber Shandwick, I have also been involved with community consultation, stakeholder management and PR around planning application procedures, something I have continued to do at MAG.During my time at Weber Shandwick we won Gold for Best Large PR Agency in the North West CIPR Awards in 2013.Upon leaving I managed several Account Executives and one Account Manager working on accounts with significant budgets.

I was part of the consumer team at Weber Shandwick's Manchester office, where I worked on: PZ Cussons' Mum & Me range, Aldi, Welsh Lamb and tourism clients across North Wales.As Senior Account Manager I was first port of call for all my clients and I was responsible for a full account team and overall client management. I would take any brief and turn it into a workable communications/digital strategy, something I continue to do at MAG. Upon leaving I had several colleagues directly reporting into me and am fully proficient at people management. Throughout my time at Weber Shandwick at all levels I worked on new business outreach to secure new client wins for the agency. This included networking, sourcing new leads and creating new business pitches. A highlight of my time at Weber Shandwick was winning and leading the Zip World account, which led to phenomenal coverage for the new North Wales attraction, circa £100k worth of bookings (all driven through PR within less than three months) and finally a gold CIPR award in 2013.

I came to Brazen after four years at a London agency where I handled Merlin's national brands to manage its Blackpool attractions - Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE, The Blackpool Tower Dungeon and the re-launch of The Blackpool Tower. I successfully managed the launch of the Tower with phenomenal media coverage including blanket next day print and rolling TV coverage on the day. The launch led to mile long queues on launch day and an increase of 300% in visitor numbers to Blackpool.Whilst at Brazen I also worked on: Stilton Cheese, Greenall's Gin, Original Source, Sizzling Pubs, Thomson Al Fresco, Journeys of Distinction and Dr. Oetker pizzas.Upon leaving I managed four Account Executives and one Junior Account Manager and budgets upwards of £250k. As well as strengthening my client portfolio I also helped to bring in and win new business for the agency.

Freerange was my first position in PR where I started at the bottom and left as a Senior Account Executive. At Freerange I handled Merlin Entertainments national brands including: Alton Towers, Madame Tussauds London, The London Dungeon, Warwick Castle and SEA LIFE London Aquarium.Other travel brands I worked on whilst in London included: Sea World, Busch Gardens, Siam Park, Hotel Botanico, The Trentham Estate, Zippos Circus and English Heritage,Whilst at Freerange I was responsible for three junior members of the team including Account Executives and PR Assistants.
