Innovative, hard-working and solutions-orientated Sechaba is an advocate of the High Court and a member of the Johannesburg Bar and Group One Advocates, with a wide commercial practice.He obtained his LL.B degree from North West University and was awarded a distinction for his LL.B dissertation titled “Leave to Appeal and its impact on the Right to Appeal”. He served on the Law Students Council of North West University in 2006 as the Projects Councillor, and he participated in the All Africa Moot Court Competition campus rounds.After completing his LL.B studies, he worked for two months as a student intern at the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority, the parastatal charged with implementing the bi-national Lesotho Highlands Water Project in Lesotho (which is an inter-basin water transfer scheme between RSA and Lesotho). There, Sechaba gained substantial experience in corporate law and corporate governance matters where he worked in the office of the Corporate Secretary under Legal Services within the Chief Executive’s office. Sechaba was previously admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa, specialising in Magistrates Court litigation at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, where he served corporate and private clients. Sechaba then specialized in appeals to the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Free State High Court as the Supreme Court of Appeal Practice Area Manager at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys from October 2011 until March 2014 when he joined Poswa Inc. where he specialized in general civil and commercial litigation serving public and private clients. From 1 October 2014, Sechaba began working as a Law Researcher at the Supreme Court of Appeal for two years. He is in the process of finalizing an LL.M in Environmental Law with the University of the Free State.In January 2017 Sechaba commenced pupillage at the Johannesburg Bar and he became its member in December 2017. Sechaba's career highlights at the Bar include successfully prosecuting a claim to hold directors of a company liable for its debts towards the IDC which had advanced R67,5 million to the company; being part of the Evidence Leader team of the Commission of Inquiry into allegations of impropriety at the Public Investment Corporation; acting for the curator who later became liquidator of VBS Mutual Bank (in liquidation); acting for Freedom Under Law in the Western Cape Judge President Hlophe's review application.
