​​SecureTurf's owner, Ryan Ray, began his first lawn maintenance company at the age of 6. He cut many lawns in his parent's neighborhood in a small, rural town in South Carolina. The family relocated to Charlotte and Ryan started his new company, Blue Marlin Turf. He expanded his services to include lawn fertilization, weed control and leaf removal. As his business grew, he employed many students at his alma mater, Independence High School. It was here that he met the love of life and future wife, Jenny. Jenny handled the business's bookkeeping and had the pleasure of handing out paychecks to her fellow high school classmates. When Ryan left for college, he handed the business over to his top crew leader and began his new venture in finance.Ryan received a B.S. in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte before moving across the state to join his soon-to-be bride at UNC Wilmington. There he earned a second bachelors degree in Finance. It wasn't long after he started working in insurance and finance, that Ryan missed the great outdoors and sought the return to landscape management. He partnered with another lawn care professional and SecureTurf was born.
