The goal: To provide the most fascinating must-know stories in 270 characters or less.

Outstanding exclusive content on both our website and our social platforms. New digital initiatives. Editorial programming backed by data. These were the hallmarks of my work at GL. And they all paid off with record-breaking traffic. In my first year alone, I grew GirlsLife.com's web traffic to an all-time high of 1 million weekly pageviews.WRITING + EDITINGI directed the daily operation of GirlsLife.com. This included the production/publication of 10+ pieces of content daily. I also "owned" three lifestyle verticals: advice (pertaining to education, career, friend and family relationships, and personal development), health and fitness (which included nutrition, workouts, playlists, and gear round-ups), and fun stuff (a compendium of sleepover and party plans, recipes, interior design ideas, and crafts). This involved writing up to 3 pieces a day myself and assigning articles to in-house and remote writers.SOCIALSeeing that our social accounts were not living up to their potential upon my arrival, I also took the initiative to manage GL's social media accounts. I organically grew our Facebook presence from under 10,000 likes to over 50,000 in that time, and did the same with Twitter, growing from just a few thousand followers to 25,000. I also launched GL on Pinterest, which became our top source of referral traffic within 3 months.STRATEGYI introduced digital best practices throughout my time at GL. These included on-page SEO to improve Google page rankings, annual audits of our archives to improve UX and pinpoint content holes, and in-depth weekly web traffic reports that allowed us to leverage traffic spikes.PRINTI also wrote regular features for the print magazine. My bylines were seen throughout the magazine, from FOB features to the well. I also contributed regular craft and recipe departments in the back of the book, working with publishing house publicists and bloggers to excerpt on-brand (and in some cases, exclusive) content from new titles.

I worked with hangPROUD.com from its inception, joining co-founders Carla Alpert and Diane Prefontaine as an intern before taking the initiative to organize the site's content-driven aspect by creating an editorial calendar and a submission process for my fellow interns. I soon became a freelance contributing writer and editor, publishing more than three dozen feature articles and reviews in addition to launching my own column, GREENgirl. I also supervised a team of interns, whose writing I edited on all levels, from minimal proofreading to copy and content editing, and posted on hangPROUD.com using various content management systems.

I served as the parenting channel editorial intern for this top-15 web content producer. Here, I independently created an "Ages and Stages" newsletter, culling content from across the About.com network to build and outline for an informative and original guide for parents of school-age children. I revamped the navigation of the unguided home parenting landing page in order to drive traffic to other parenting channel sites, and supplemented this work with evergreen blog posts and brief features. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the redesign and new content, I used site metrics to analyze traffic patterns. Other tasks included proof reading guidesite articles, identifying holes in parenting channel content, and creating a mental health supersite.

At this regional luxury lifestyle publication, now known as New Jersey Life Health and Beauty, I pitched and wrote front-of-book features, calendar listings and "Best of N.J." guides. I researched and wrote a shopping guide for the premiere wedding issue, and acted at the writer, editor and liaison for a private school advertorial. I also researched future articles for senior editors, copy edited restaurant listings, and worked with PR firms to secure high resolution photographs for publication and products for photo shoots.
