Dr. Pissaris is a Professor at Florida International University’s College of Business. She is also an avid entrepreneur responsible for launching numerous successful companies. Dr. Pissaris is particularly passionate about social entrepreneurship, or profitable and sustainable businesses that also create solutions to global problems and bring about positive change. She has begun a social entrepreneurship initiative at FIU where she is empowering students to become agents of change by helping them to design and launch social entrepreneurial ventures, encouraging students to become involved in social investing and philanthropy, and fostering student participation in social change projects in local and global communities. Dr Pissaris’ experience of transforming a small business into a multi-million dollar corporation offering innovative, solution-oriented products informs her teaching and research on organizational governance. Dr. Pissaris has published in prestigious Academic Journals and has presented her research at numerous conferences. Dr. Pissaris is also personally involved in social service organizations where she helps social enterprises formulate and implement strategies that measurably improve the quality of life of their constituencies. In this work she helps organizations define key programmatic outcomes and has developed methodologies to assess and report progress on Quality of Life measures.
