This year’s conference will be hosted in Felix Meritis – the European center of art, culture and science on the Keizersgracht – on the 1st of November. The choice of theme this year is rather unconventional; Power, Corruption & Compliance. However, with the development of compliance departments in all major multinationals and special attention paid to anti-corruption strategies by international financial institutions we believe it’s time to acknowledge corruption as an undesired yet integral part of the global economy. Therefore, the focus will lie not on a descriptive history of scandals but rather an analysis of what corruption entails, how business-ethics differ across regions, how the abuse of power can be prevented and which strategies can guide us to a corruption free future. The program will consist of short speakers with content-rich speeches and students will be provided with ample opportunities for interaction. Furthermore, a selection of particularly motivated students will be able to attend workshops organized by renowned corporations.Program:Optional morning program09:30 Workshop with NS or CBS11:30 Lunch for workshop participantsStart12:30 Entry13:00 OpeningCorruption13:15 Mark Worth, Whistleblower Programme Coordinator at Transparency International13:35 John Oliver, Partner at Texas Pacific Group14:00 Panel about corruption14:30 Coffee breakPower14:55 Wibout de Klijne, head Crisis Management and Fraud Investigation at Rabobank15:15 Case study by World Bank15:50 Jeroen van der Veer, former CEO Shell16:15 Coffee breakCompliance16:40 Marnix Somsen, Partner at De Brauw17:05 Panel about lobbying17:35 Mystery GuestClosing18:00 Closing speech18:10 Networking Drink Show less
