Halifax (Kjipuktuk) is hosting the 2023 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG 2023) July 15 to 23, 2023. NAIG 2023 will welcome approximately 5,000 Indigenous participants from across Turtle Island (North America) to participate in the largest multi-sport gathering in Atlantic Canada of Indigenous people since contact. NAIG 2023 has the opportunity to have about 3,000 volunteers in a celebration of Indigenous sport and culture across 17 sports and 7 days of cultural celebrations. NAIG 2023 is organized and executed by the NAIG 2023 Host Society, who is a not-for-profit organization and the employer of this opportunity.

I was a member of the Towns Sr. Management team and was responsible for developing and implementing customer-centered programs to attract / sustain business and enhance the quality of life. My portfolio of services included economic development, tourism, support for arts, culture and recreation programs and parks. My responsibilities include: - Designing, developing and implementing a community economic development plan that integrates programs for business attraction and investment, commercial core area revitalization, human services, arts culture and heritage support, and tourism and leisure programs. - Developing and implementing a community consultation program that engages residents, user groups, businesses and service providers.- Creating and administering an economic development workplan that increases business investment in the community, incorporates programs for business attraction and retention, establishes supportive policies and marketing tactics; supports small business entrepreneurship, facilitates the revitalization of core business areas of the community, enhances human services delivery, and connects other municipal initiatives to promote the Town of Innisfil.- Manage the Town's Recreation portfolio and lead a review and update of sport, culture recreation and leisure programs through consultation with the broader community of program users within the municipality to identify future demand.- Acted as the Municipal lead for the 2015 Pan Parapan American Games.- Facilitate partnerships with local businesses, business associations, all levels of government, utilities, internal departments, developers, financial institutions and others as appropriate to deliver successful results on key community development projects.- Promote and showcase municipally owned lands, buildings or facilities to support the achievement of economic development and recreation program objectives.

Volunteer Position - Board of DirectorsThe Sport Alliance Ontario (SAO) was a member-based organization representing various sectors of amateur sport in Ontario, including provincial and multi sport organizations, and other sport and recreation authorities, which closed in 2015. The organizations vision was to be the pre-eminent leader in sport system development. Collectively, the membership represents over 2.6 Ontarian's.The SAO’s programs and services included: the Ontario Games Program (inclusive of the Ontario Summer and Winter Games, the 55+ Games and the Ontario ParaSport Games); management of Team Ontario at the Canada Summer and Winter Games; the Ontario Sport Awards; Sport Injury Surveillance Program; KidSport Ontario; the operation of the office complex that houses Ontario’s provincial sport and recreation organizations; and the provision of ancillary services to support our member organizations.Within the role I ensured that the corporate by-laws are adhered to, provide financial oversight and responsibility for a $3 million per year operating budget, lead staffing decisions and act as a liaison / spokesperson for the organization to government, corporate partners, the media, the sport community and the membership at large.

PROJECTS MANAGED / COMPLETED SINCE 2010:• Caledon Equestrian Park (Toronto Region Conservation Authority Park) $14 Million Pan Parapan AM Games Equestrian Facility Facilitated design of World Class Equestrain venue including FEI Approved footings, project mange capital build, ran public consultations, completed Phase 1 construction and procured Phase 2. • Caledon Community Complex – Ice Pad. $7 Million Arena Addition  Managed community consultation, design, site plan application, construction of 40,000 square ft. ice pad• Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness – Youth Centre Expansion - $2.7 Million Managed, design, site plan, construction, and implementation of amenities such as a half pipe and custom 3d rock wall. • Johnston Sports Park – design of 120 acre sport park Procured design team, managed design and site plan application, produced tender packages• Parks and Recreation Masterplan  Managed Town of Caledon’s 2009 Masterplan process, including council and community consultations, final report and presentation to Council• Researched and applied for grant opportunities for programming, and recreational infrastructure projects (Successful in securing grants in excess of $10.9 million) • Capital Infrastructure – Project Management• Managed large project teams, contracts and contractors• Worked with various departments to move infrastructure projects through approval stages• Managed internal and external resources and budgets for projects as assigned by CAO and CFO• Managed Town’s grant portfolio • Reported to Federal and Provincial government on grants and other funding (e.g. Federal Gas Tax etc.)• Conducted Council Workshops / Public Meetings & Briefed Sr. Mgmt. / Council• Acted as liaison between multiple levels of government and stakeholders• Lead Caledon’s 2015 Pan AM Games involvement• Built strong relationships with Provincial and Federal governments enabling Caledon to be up-to-date on programs and funding activities
