About Tim Walsh

Fearless Leader at The Playmakers. I’ve designed or co-designed TriBond, Blurt, Mad Gab, You’ve Been Framed, Bull’s Eye, Cheese Stack, N'Sync Backstage Pass, TMNT Foot Clan Street Fight, and many others. These games have collectively sold over 7 million copies.I am currently the Chair of the Young Inventor Challenge Advisory Board. The Young Inventor Challenge is a competition that inspires kids to use creativity, critical thinking, and STEAM skills in the invention and innovation process. The Young Inventor Challenge events occur throughout the year in neighborhood toy stores and camps across the nation (thanks to partnerships with ASTRA and Happy Camper Live), and culminate in the Young Inventor Challenge event in Chicago every November. This international competition connects its young participants with professionals within the toy and game industry, who act as mentors to these, the next generation of toy and game designers. I was Creative Consultant and co-editor on Toyland, a documentary on toy and game inventors from director, Ken Sons. The film won Best Documentary awards at three US film festivals. In 2016, I co-produced and co-directed OPERATION: Operation The Power of Play with Peggy Brown. The film won the top prize for Best Film at the 2017 Naperville Independent Film Festival as well as Best Documentary. As a speaker and lecturer, I am out to prove that PLAY is a means through which we can super-charge creativity and connect with others....“Tim Walsh is personal, engaging and inspiring! Over the past two years, he has presented on several professional development topics for our association’s members. The last one being our closing keynote for our annual statewide conference. Tim’s oh so relevant message of connectivity brought our attendees to their feet in a standing ovation.” — Cheray Keyes-Shima, APR, CPRC, FPRA Executive Director My first book, Timeless Toys (Andrews-McMeel, 2005) was praised by The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. My second, WHAM-O Super-Book (Chronicle Books, 2008) was picked by NPR as “One of the best gift books of the year.” My third, Right Brain Red: 7 Ideas for Creative Success, written with super-entrepreneur Reyn Guyer, was released in the spring of 2017.In 2022, Tim launched a YouTube channel that celebrates designers, play, creativity and connection at: www.youtube.com/@SeizethePlay
