About Fae Kenney

I'm proud of my background educationally and professionally. In college, I pursued my interests and stepped outside my comfort zone to explore new opportunities. I was Editor of the Semester for the school newspaper, serving as their web editor. My favorite courses were deep dives into narrow topics, such as Thomas More's or Wendell Berry's writings. Taking an elective class called "Teaching Writing as a Process" rekindled a childhood dream of being a teacher. Meanwhile, my natural curiosity for technology combined with my creative talents led me to job openings in the branches of my university that were making education more widely accessible, including filming live classes both for students on the sister campus in Austria and for students in a local prison, but also in the budding eLearning department, coaching instructors and designing their courses for an online interface.As an educator, my strengths were attention to detail and sensitivity to effective implementation. I enjoyed researching curriculum and educational tools, introducing new ideas to my colleagues, and designing interactive lessons. In addition to teaching Sophomore, Junior, and Senior English classes--including Honors and AP tracks--I taught technology and media classes, managed and coordinated the PreK-12 yearkbook (and organized sales and sponsorship campaigns to fund the yearbook), and redesigned the school website and ran the social media channels. (Tools used included GIMP, a publishing layout program, and a social media management program.)When I moved to Oregon, I shifted my career path and entered marketing in the AEC field. I love working on a team; collecting and organizing materials; leading both short- and long-term goals; editing and writing; and designing layouts. Immersing myself in water engineering has been a fascinating new challenge.Meanwhile, I have continued to pursue my interests. I have joined local groups, explored local events, and taken anthropology courses at PCC. I like to try new hobbies and research niche interests. Rain or shine, my partner and I love going hiking with our greyhounds. We are refurbishing a 100-year-old house, and I'm putting in a vegetable garden: the goal is to bring the landscaping up to par with the quaint Portland neighborhood standard.
