My name is Sela Martinez and I am a Senior at the Colorado school of mines studying Geological Engineering. I chose this major because I love learning how our world's natural processes work and the impact humans can have on the environment. I also love the outdoors and am a major rockhound. In my time at Mines, I hope to learn all I can about geosciences and to pursue a career in Geological Engineering.I am a Florence Caldwell Achievement Scholarship recipient as well as a member of the Vanguard Community of Scholars. I am an ambassador for the Transportation & Construction GIRL program hosted by the HOYA Foundation. I have gained mentorship, leadership experience, career exploration opportunities, and much more from my time with these programs. These opportunities have empowered me to pursue my goals and passions and to pay it forward.
