Hey there! I'm Selam - A UX/UI Designer based in Berlin.Having studied and worked in the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design in both South Africa and Germany for nearly a decade, I have had the opportunity to empathise and design for a diverse range of humans with a varying cultural and social backgrounds, a challenge I have thoroughly enjoyed. Working in this industry has equipped me with the ability to think critically, iterate and evolve ideas, apply design principles that provide both delight and function, work in a collaborative environment, reframe problems as opportunities, work efficiently to a deadline, and most importantly cultivate the desire to constantly learn new things.Both my inquisitive nature and my desire to understand and design for humans led me to pivot my career path into User Experience Design. From the first moment, I researched the practice, I was instantly enamoured. The field's principles of user-centric design based on empathy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, behavioural science and the beauty of aesthetics, delight and functionality converged perfectly with my passion. My biggest curiosity is the nature of humanity, and UX Design provides me with the perfect outlet to explore this wondrous theme in a way that is both purposeful and beneficial to society.
