In 2010, I decided to make a career change. This change was a result of my own experiences in running, gear selection being the most important one. I started as a distributor/retailer for Saucony, a major US running brand. I sold their shoes in conjunction with running gait analysis services. In the next few years, I owned 3 stores in Istanbul, solely serving the running community by offering all the major brands, running gait analysis and coaching services, community activities, race organizations and athlete sponsorships. I created the running specialty channel for many brands including Nike, Asics, Mizuno, On, Salomon among others.

in 2004, with two other partners, we created Firma Consulting to offer Business Development Process Improvement services designed to help small and medium-sized firms grow. We analyzed numbers – prospects, proposals, close ratios, ROI – to identify business development gaps and opportunities. We not only helped evaluate, define, document, and implement a business development strategy but also helped secure necessary financing to implement it.

Comprised of 24 companies, the Vestel Group is a multi-industry manufacturer, which operates in electronics, household appliances, mobile technologies, LED lighting and defense. I started as the Purchasing Manager responsible for organizing and supervising purchasing functions of home electronics; managing daily activities in purchasing to include day to day and capital projects purchases; managing contracts including administering, negotiating, reviewing, renewing, filing, and evaluating for availability, price, term, and quality of products. In 1998, a group of engineers from Vestel and I moved to Mountain View, CA to open an R&D office. I was in charge of business development. My duties were to secure engineering and productization partnerships. Our group succeeded in creating multiple products to be put in mass production in our parent manufacturing company. In 2001, I moved back to Istanbul, Turkey to lead the business development efforts for Vestel Electronics Group. We were able to create new markets for our products, mainly in Europe and Africa.
