I graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and minors in Chemistry and Psychology in Spring 2021. Throughout my years at Cal Poly Humboldt, I worked as a science tutor and was involved in three research projects. In Fall 2019, I studied the relationship between hormones and intrasexual competition; in Spring 2020, I began studying the effects of Bisphenol A (BPA) on neural development; in Spring 2021, I worked to optimize self-assembling nanodiscs in order to study the membrane protein, Anabaena Sensory Rhodopsin. My undergraduate research experience led me to apply for the CIRM Bridges 3.0 internship where I worked in the Monje Lab at Stanford University, School of Medicine. The lab primarily focuses on glioblastomas, specifically diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas. My mentor and I focued on how immunotherapies, such as CAR T-cell therapy, affect cognition and ways to restore cognition in patients undergoing cancer immunotherapy.
