My name is Selena Rollason - a creative thinker, strategic planner, innovative conceptualiser and an enthusiastic, driven and outcomes-oriented professional.My creative journey began at just 12 years old and in the decades since I've developed expert skills in professional photography, graphic design, photo editing, web design, content marketing and a whole lot of other areas that have proven useful for business branding, marketing and content creation, art and design.I've worked for many organisations including State Government, Not-for-profit organisations, corporate business and operated as a sole trader and freelancer. I've managed teams, worked solo and ran my own business. My life and work experience is vast.My greatest passion though is working with clients. I have always had an interest in photography from very young. In 1999 I turned this in to a business and now have more than 12 years experience in wedding and portrait photography. I also do corporate photography, event photography, and commercial photography. However my passion is landscapes and nature. I am a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), the Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) and other professional organisations. As a photographer at Brisbane Birth Photography, my aim is to capture the magical moment in your life where you meet your baby for the first time. I work with medical staff, mothers and their partners to capture beautiful photographs of them and their new baby.Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in a parents lives. You spend 9 months watching your tummy grow, waiting for the big day, setting up your home and planning your future. A mother never forgets the birth of her child(ren). Every woman has a story to tell – ask any Mum and they will share the memories – good and bad.Most women are apprehensive about the big day – and often a little nervous and scared. Childbirth is often perceived as awful because it can be very painful and difficult for a woman. Many women see labour and childbirth as a negative experience (often where they look dreadful in photos). But it doesn’t have to be that way!!Childbirth is actually a beautiful thing! A marvel of nature, full of emotions and excitement and relief. AND its a moment that you deserve to remember positively for years to come, not negatively. But who wants horrible photos from the day spoiling your experience? Brisbane Birth Photography aim to photograph the birth of your baby with beauty, grace and love. For 8 and a half years I worked with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (formerly the Environment Protection Agency) as an environmental scientist/principal planning officer. In my various roles, I assisted with the declaration and zoning of the Great Sandy Marine Park, assisted with the State Planning Policies for Air, Noise and Water, contributed to the Queensland Wetlands Program, assisted the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, completed numerous Aquatic Conservation Assessments for major QLD catchments including the Wet Tropics, Fitzroy, Burdekin, Queensland Murray Darling Basin, Wide Bay-Burnett, Southern Gulf of Carpentaria and Cape York, assisted with a review of the QLD Protected Plants Framework and write policies for the QLD Environmental Offsets Policy (plus much more).
