Born and raised in Queens, New York. Selina Shida Hack is a freelance dance artist, model, and movement director based in New York City.She began her dance training at the Professional Performing Arts School/The Ailey School where she studied various forms of dance genres. In 2017, Selina graduated Cum Laude from the State Univeristy of New York at Purchase College, Conservatory of Dance with a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Arts Management. While at Purchase, Selina was chosen to study abroad for a semester at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong.Throughout the years, Selina has had the privilege of performing works by Kimberly Bartosik, Sidra Bell, Tina Bush, Dionysios Alamanos & Danae Dimitriadi, Martha Graham, Adrienne Hurd, Jaime Redfern, Pedro Ruiz, Manuel Vignouelle and Kate Wallich.Selina has also studied at various intensives and festivals at Ballet Hispanico, Dance Theater of Harlem, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Earl Mosley Institute of the Arts,The Ailey School, Sidra Bell Dance New York MODULE, and East Point West - Interdisciplinary Festival of Embodiment.As a performer, Selina has danced and guested with companies, such as Gaspard & Dancers, ZEST Collective, Nomad Contemporary Ballet, LaneCoArts, VALLETO, NE14 Dance, Peter Stathas Dance Keigwin+Co.and HIVEWILD. As a choreographer in 2019, Selina was invited by conductor Antonio Ciacca to choreograph for his work, Pulses presented at the La Spezia Jazz Festival in Italy. She has also movement directed many dance films that she has been featured in, collaborating with videographers and directors. Through her commercial work, Selina was selected to be featured in the music videos, such as Stereotypes (2015) by Black Violin, Everybody’s Lonely (2018) by Jukebox the Ghost, and Black Vultures (2018) by Halestorm. She recently was featured in CXN’s Fashion Commercial Come With Us choreographed by Katherine Maxwell. In May 2019, Selina performed for Madonna during her guest appearance to International Song Competition, Eurovision in Tel Aviv, Israel choreographed by Megan Lawson.
