As Will Durant said, ‘Knowledge is the eye of desire and can become the pilot of the soul.’ My interest in teaching is a result of my profound interest in seeing my learners practice what they have learned over time. I have earned a B.A. (Hons) in English from the University of Education, Winneba (Ghana). During my undergraduate studies at the University of Education Winneba (Ghana), I was exposed to a wide range of English courses such as “Introduction to Linguistics” “Modern English Structure and Usage,” “Phonetics and Phonology of English,” “Introduction to Literature,” but to mention a few, which provided me with a solid grounding needed for the real world. I have inadvertently been involved in communication throughout my teaching and interactions with students and people from different cultural backgrounds. This has motivated me to search for a master’s program in this regard and I have found the MPhil in Teaching English as a second Language of which I am currently pursuing and in my final year. The purpose of my study is to acquire a range of theoretical and methodological skills that will be necessary for learners at the varied levels of education.Throughout my career, I have demonstrated my commitment to fostering a stimulating learning environment through a variety of thought-provoking activities that make the teaching of English language and literature both engaging and enjoyable. My ability to teach all aspects of the English language with ease is an attestation to my dedication and skills, a quality that is rare among English educators globally. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am an avid poet with several recognitions and awards, reflecting my passion for creative writing. This passion extends to my extracurricular activities, where I mentor young talents in creative writing and stage plays. These experiences have not only enriched my teaching practice but have also allowed me to inspire and cultivate a love for literature among my students.During holidays and weekends, I organize remedial lessons for my students, demonstrating my relentless commitment to their academic success. This zeal to going above and beyond to support my students in reaching their maximum potential is a core principle of my teaching philosophy. As a fast learner, I am open to learning on the job and attend workshops that would enrich my skills and make me a much better educator.I am confident that my background, skills, and passion make me a suitable candidate for the position. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my candidacy further.
