Worked as part of a team of 8+ Mentors, in the Morgan Stanley Graduate training Program. The program was conducted in New York and London over a 54 day period. It involved training in Java/J2EE, C++, C#/.NET, UNIX, Windows, XML, Web based technologies, UML and IT Architectures. Once the training completed, the role changed to Project management of 6 teams over a 6 week period. Each project was sanctioned by the business as something that was required by the business.

Contracted by NATS to evaluate a proposed architecture from Indra (Spanish ATC supplier). The role involved mentoring NATS UK on CORBA, attending meetings in UK and Spain, assessing CORBA, FDP (Flight Distribution Processing) and J2EE like technologies. Producing reports on the viability of such technologies in the long run for UK FDP, proposing alternative architectures, and determining the safety and integrity of each architectural proposal.Contracted to assess the UK’s option of using an foreign organisation to design and build the UKs ATC FDP architecture. The output from this activity was a report that detailed the business goals and drivers, NATs principles, data and process needs and a clear understanding of the technologies that would be employed by the foreign contractor in the implementation of this system. The resultant report detailed an number of architectural options, their pros and cons and why the contractor had selected the particular architecture that was dependant upon CORBA DDS.

Won the contract to deliver UML training and mentoring to their staff to move them towards an OO software development process.

Contracted by Tyco to perform a number of rolesHelp them meet their contractual obligations to the Victoria Line upgrade. The role involves ensuring all software documents meet EU/UK standards, review and verify all written software, supply software testing and verification training and review architecture documents.Develop an architecture footprint of their proposed solution. Document the Tyco engineers work in such a way that their client could confidently assess if their proposed solution would stack up. The architecture footprint was required to articulate their plans. I used tools and techniques that would now be considered TOGAF tools and techniques.

Part of the Transport for London Prestige project (the work responsible for the Oyster Card).Delivered stream2stream UML training to 20+ C++ developers.Reviewed all designs for the software that was going to be deployed onto the hardware for the Oyster Card.Designed and developed XORBA. An XML based tool that allows developers to design and construct CORBA like infrastructure that aid the communications between the hand held computers used on the tubes, trains and buses and, the computers that they have to synchronise with.Designed and implemented with a small team, the embedded software deployed on the hand held computers used within Prestige.
