• Serve as an integral part of the Embassy's policy team to provide analysis and reporting on economic, political, social issues arising in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Djibouti and the Central African Republic.Research, analyse and prepare reports and briefs in the political and economic situations of South Sudan• Monitor local and regional media, government and international organisations’ statements and publications and provide policy information • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy, project or operational issues

• Supporting the Post’s grant program in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Djibouti, and the Central African Republic to manage NGOs and social enterprises’ operations in women empowerment, disability inclusion, health, peace building and food security through financial and technical support.• Filtering down Direct Aid Program (DAP) applications as part of the DAP committee for over 1800 proposals in 2020 and over 800 in 2022 to select high-caliber partners to fund for six consecutive rounds• Supporting the management of Australian NGO Cooperation program in over 50 countries some of which include World Vision, Fred Hollows and International Needs Australia with over USD10 Million funding in total.• Maintaining Australia’s strong relationship with the African Union, United Nation Economic Commission and IGAD through capacity building, and policy developments.• Manage financial records, arrange payments, appraisals and monitor funding and budgets• Plan and implement strategies on the development programs along with stakeholders• Oversea and manage the SmartyGrants grant management to reflect projects performance, approvals and acquittal• Working with the Program Officer to undertake project assessment and acquittal procedures• Support the Public Diplomacy Unit by generating social media contents

• Administrative support for the Head of Mission and when necessary other diplomats; organizing appointment, personal appearances, maintenance of database of key contacts• Liaison with key stakeholders like the AU, UNECA, IGAD and contact points in Canberra• Make travel and logistical arrangements, prepare movement requisitions, send out necessary cables• Manage events and provide support to high level visits• Prepare correspondences and memos, manage communications in the form of emails, letters, note verbal and other forms of communication• Perform basic research, analyses briefs, prepare talking points• Undertake financial and accounts processing
