Senegal

I was headhunted as mine operations manager to the worlds largest capacity single dredge mineral sands operation, West Africa Senegal (7,000tph dredge and floating concentrator). I was requested to improve safety and operational performance and lead transformation across training and competence, minimising risk and optimisation of the workforce and mine. Responsible for a ~400 strong workforce with diverse experiences of nationals, expats, contractors and accountable for a significant operating budget and capital portfolio, I ensured the ongoing safe and productive performance of the operation whilst spearheading continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring outcomes are aligned with strategic goals.A key focus of the role is around influencing functional roles and working together to deliver outcomes. With a diverse skill set across operational, management and technical services, I was able to lead and influence across the organisation, called upon for involvement in problem solving, leading initiatives.Notable Key Achievements:• Led the mine delivery of record safety and production year on year• safety no recorded LTI’s, below target MTI’s• Reduction of community complaints, and successful relocation of several villages• achieved first rehabilitation of mined land hand back to Government in Senegal by a mining company• Achieved nameplate production and improvements in ore mined and HMC produced, exceeding production targets year on year.
