With a diverse and dynamic 15-year career, I currently hold the position of Director of Business Development and next-generation lead at Selyn Exporters Pvt Ltd, a leading fair trade social enterprise in Sri Lanka.As an Attorney-at-Law and a seasoned policy specialist and development practitioner, I am a co-founder and collaborator at Positive Impact Consultancy and The Institute for Future Creations. In these capacities, I provide consultancy services to the UN and various international governmental and private-sector organisations as a sustainability expert. I also contribute to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce as a committee member, chairing the Entrepreneurship and SME steering committee. Previously, I served as the Director of Programs for the Office for National Unity & Reconciliation at the President's Office of the Government of Sri Lanka. I continue to offer my insights on several high-level advisory committees for the government.I am a TEDx Colombo alumna and most recently received recognition as the Most Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year by the Women's Chamber of Commerce & Industry 2024 and as the Emerging Business Leader of the Year at the Top 50 Professional & Career Women Awards - Sri Lanka & Maldives 2021. Amongst other recognitions, I was most notably honoured mentioned in LMD – The A List: Millennial Torchbearers in 2020, Cosmopolitan Sri Lanka's 35 Under 35 in 2020, and Echelon's 50 Most Powerful Women in Sri Lanka 2014. Selyn's work with supply chain traceability was also recognised by Forbes Asia: 50 over 50 list in 2023. In addition to my professional endeavours, I am a passionate youth activist with a history of leadership roles. I led the youth wing of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka and served as the founding Chair of the Youth Council of the Council for Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD Youth). Furthermore, I contributed to the executive committee of the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) and led the programs team of Sri Lanka Unites, a youth movement focused on reconciliation.My commitment to equitable development, especially for the women of Sri Lanka, is unwavering. As a committed mother, I understand the importance of creating a fair and just society for the next generation. This advocacy is a core part of my professional and personal life.

Overall responsibility for strategy, business development, brands and marketing; additionally, responsible for strategy and programme development at the Selyn Foundation. In addition to managing strategic direction for Selyn's business development and growth including sales, marketing and brands, Selyna leads the work on fair trade compliance, monitoring and reporting since 2010. She has been instrumental to setting up an internal monitoring system within the company, which ensures that their extended network of upto 500 outsourced artisans are compliant with the requirements of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) Guarantee System.
