When I was born, my parents were dog-sitting, so you could say it’s a job I’ve held my entire life. I like to think that being around dogs so often from such an early age activated the animal lover genes in my DNA, so by the time I was 18, I was ready to dive head-first into veganism. (Not sure if that’s scientifically accurate, but it feels right.)But being in the midst of college when such a monumental shift occurred, I felt even more confused about what to do once I graduated in three years, two years, one year…I picked up a few dog-sitting jobs just to make some extra cash after graduating, and now, four years later, I accidentally made a full-time job of it. In the meantime, I worked on a personal blog where I wrote about the complexities of animal rights in an anthropocentric world, with the hope of making veganism seem just a little more exciting and inclusive.When I’m not walking dogs or cuddling cats, I study the craft of storytelling (often by reading whatever novels I can get my hands on), search for the scariest movies I can find, create and post engaging animal rights graphics for social media, and generally philosophize about how to live more sustainably and compassionately.I am guardian to one spunky rescue dog and hope to have a microsanctuary in the near future, preferably in an off-grid tiny house surrounded by acres of forest. But one step at a time!
