I make my private-sector living doing healthcare IT, but years ago (1987-1994) I served as Mass. State Senator for Cambridge, Belmont, Watertown and Allston-Brighton. In December 2011, after working in the private sector for 18 years and residing in Lexington for 16 years, I tossed my cap back into the ring, declaring for State Senate for the area consisting of Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Lincoln, Waltham, Weston and large parts of Sudbury and Lexington. Having served before, I was able to point to an actual record, one that suited this district. And, having spent 17 years immersed in healthcare, computers and the Internet, I could make a credible promise to bring fresh perspective to a legislative body short on technologists.The Democratic field in this race drew four other terrific candidate, any of whom would make a great legislator, but, to make a long story short, I won.
