About Brian Sennett
I'm a tinkerer and a builder who likes to make the way things move, look, and sound a little more beautiful. I have more than four years' experience leading development teams to create professional audio products, from architecture to mass production. I thrive on bringing disciplines together to innovate the way we work - to make our experience more enjoyable, so that our customers can get more out of our products. At Bose, I've quickly risen to managing experienced professionals, helping them develop in their roles and tie our team together. I've built a strong knowledge of analog and digital audio processing techniques, frequently collaborate with global engineering teams, and am a go-to resource for our marketing leads to represent the voice of engineering. I aspire to continue learning from the talent around me while leading my teams to create products that deliver "wow" moments to customers. My passion for audio drives my volunteer work as the technical director at MIT's college radio station, where I've led initiatives in digital audio storage and playback, live music technology, and the creation of a new kilowatt-level FM transmitter-antenna facility to ensure that freeform, independent radio stays a part of the legendary Boston music scene for years to come.
Listed skills include Python, Matlab, Latex, Labview, and 6 others.

Manager Of Battery Engineering
CurrentI work with the Electric Era leadership team to create hardware road maps for our EV fast-charging stations, and lead a team of hardware engineers to execute on those road maps. We design and integrate high-power batteries and fast chargers, working with the Site Implementation team to deploy and service our charging stations.
Lead Electrical Engineer
As the functional lead in my discipline, I manage anything electrical in our battery pack: board and system design, integration and business development support, manufacturing, and certification. I work closely with other functional leads, our business development team, and our VP of Battery Engineering - and am working to grow an Electrical Engineering team.
Senior Electrical Engineer
Design Engineering Leader
I lead multidisciplinary engineering teams at Bose Professional, developing a diverse set of products in the installed sound, conferencing, and portable PA segments. My work spans design engineering, verification testing, architecture, and research. I typically work with worldwide engineering teams to design and manufacture our products, and I enjoy the opportunity to be hands-on with our manufacturing and validation work.In fall 2020, Bose Professional launched the L1 Pro portable PA systems, a lineup of products that completely refreshes our legendary L1 line. As lead electrical engineer, I was responsible for the electrical architecture that powers the products and enables the innovative L1 Mix mobile application, and owned the audio performance of the entire line. Previously, I contributed to the design of the Powerspace line of installed power amplifiers, which power sound systems in restaurants, theaters, shopping centers, and more. I led the development of the digital audio and control systems, as well as the user interface.
Electrical Engineer
In my first two years at Bose, I was able to participate in the PACE rotational program, spending 6-month rotations in four very different groups: Consumer Electronics Advanced Development, Acoustics Research, Automotive Systems, and Professional Systems. This gave me insight into where I fit best, but also helped me learn about new disciplines (such as acoustics) and processes (such as introducing new products). At the conclusion of the program I chose to pursue product design and development work with the Professional Systems Division, which creates audio tools for professionals in the live sound, installed audio, business conferencing, and portable PA markets.
Graduate Teaching Assistant
I assisted with two undergraduate lab courses: 6.115 (Microcomputer Project Laboratory) and 6.131 (Power Electronics Laboratory), both of which were formative in my own undergraduate education in electronics design, prototyping, and debugging. As a TA, I led a team of 4-10 teaching and laboratory assistants to guide and evaluate students in their work, and helped develop new course hardware and software.
Product Development Intern
Returning to Bose for a second internship, I worked in the Home Entertainment Division to assist with the launch of the first SoundTouch series of Wi-Fi speakers, and also conducted extensive prototyping and testing in development of the SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speaker. My work in voice-pickup testing drove the addition of a MEMS microphone for speakerphone functionality in the second-generation product.
Undergraduate Researcher
My undergraduate and graduate work in the Laboratory for Electromagnetic and Electronic Systems revolved around novel sensing systems that blended mechanical and electrical design. My capstone project in undergraduate research at MIT, titled WaterNILM, was a Non-Intrusive Load Monitor (NILM) for domestic water systems. Using accelerometers mounted strategically to the exterior of household copper water pipes, and signal-processing and signature detection algorithms in MATLAB, the system could characterize the use quantity and patterns of water loads (sink, shower, toilet, etc.). This easy-to-install concept could dramatically improve consumption habits and reduce overall water use.
Electrical Engineering Intern, Research And Advanced Development, Noise Reduction Technology Group
As an intern in the small Bose headset advanced development group, I developed two research tools: a hardware/firmware prototyping platform for next-generation active noise reduction electronics, and a MATLAB-based subjective listening tool for comparing audio equalization.
