About Senthil Subramanian

My lab's major area of interest is root-microbe interactions in legumes. Legumes such as soybean help fix atmospheric nitrogen in root nodules formed through symbiotic association with rhizobia bacteria. Biological nitrogen fixation alleviates the use of environmentally hazardous synthetic fertilizers. Research project in our laboratory focus on identification of roles that microRNAs (miRNAs) and small molecule hormones play in legume nodule development (miRNAs are short non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression in a post-transcriptional manner).
