Victim Assistance Program Supervisor/Coordinator
The EPSO Victim Assistance Program serves the following Law Enforcement jurisdictions: El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Monument Police Department, Calhan Police Department, Manitou Springs Police Department, Palmer Lake Police Department and Fountain Police Department. Supervises, coordinates, and directs advocate staff members and volunteers, in all aspects as they relate to crime victims per the Crime Victim Rights Act (VRA), by providing short-term crisis intervention and referrals for victim compensation, counseling, and community resources. Provides emergency assistance with safe housing and placement for victims of violent crime on a 24/7 schedule. Attends victim and/or law enforcement group meetings including court appearances and special events on behalf of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO). Educates the public, members of the Sheriff's Office, and agencies outlined in the applicable grants about the rights of crime victims. Directs, coordinates, and supervises assigned staff and volunteer advocates; develops and/or coordinates professional training and works with other EPSO personnel in areas related to recruitment and training including ensuring compliance with Victims' Rights C.R.S. Title 24, Article 4.1, Part 3, through training agency personnel in the EPSO's Colorado P.O.S.T. Approved Basic Law Enforcement Academy and during EPSO sworn and civilian in-service training. Coordinates and develops EPSO Victim Advocate Volunteer academies and monthly training. Prepares and maintains data related to monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports and activities. Attends victim/law enforcement meetings including quarterly statewide law enforcement coordinators meetings, sexual assault community response coalition meetings, and advocacy resource group meetings. Prepares detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports related to all program activities. Performs other duties as required.
