Dr. DuCasse completed her Surgical Residency training in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle surgery at Westchester General Hospital in Miami Florida. While there, she spent countless hours in the operating room performing various limb salvage procedures and reconstruction of traumatic injuries utilizing both internal and external fixation. During her training she noticed that many patients complained of unrelenting pain to the lower extremity, non healing recurring wounds and many patients with diabetes did not have an answer for their accompanying motor weakness and loss of balance and sensation. This query lead her to pursue advanced training in the pathology of peripheral nerve. Dr. DuCasse is fellowship trained and has an additional focus in microsurgical techniques. Dr. DuCasse remains active in clinical research and teaching and has served as an assistant clinical investigator in FDA trials. Additionally, at the University of Georgia she participated in research investigating the effects of supplementation on muscle oxidative capacity and neuromuscular determinants of performance in prolonged exercise.
