The fishing sector has always been a great interest to me, and as such, my academic and professional focus is directed towards this field. First, I decided to make my Bachelor's thesis (in Business Administration) a research project on fisheries economics, achieving Cum Laude (10/10) and becoming a candidate for the "María do Carme Lorenzo" Prize in Natural Resources and Environmental Economics. Upon completing my Bachelor's degree, I became involved in a project with the ECOPESCA Research Group at the University of Santiago de Compostela. At the same time, I pursued a Master's in Maritime Business and Law while working with ORPAGU, the most important association of longline fleet in Europe.To further specialize in this area, I completed an international Master in Science in Sustainable Fisheries Management, earning Cum Laude in the first year. I conducted my internships within the Tropical Tuna Group at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO). Seeking firsthand experience in the fishing industry, I worked as a scientific observer on freezer tuna vessels in the management areas of IOTC (Indian Ocean), IATTC (Eastern Pacific), and WCPFC (Western Pacific).Currently, I am starting on a doctoral thesis at the University of Santiago de Compostela, focusing on the development of structural bio-economic models to understand the socio-economic impact of different fisheries management measures.
