Born in Istanbul in 1987, Seray Kalelioğlu took up piano at the age of 6. She sang in the Children’s Choir of Turkish Radio and Television Corporation from 1995 until 2000. In 1996, she participated as a soloist in the Children’s Song Contest which took place in Figuera da Foz in Portugal where she was awarded the Friendship and Peace Prize. She studied piano and violin at Istek Belde Fine Arts High School from 2001 to 2005 on a full scholarship. From 2005 to 2009, she continued her piano studies with Dilek Yonat Batıbay at the Department of Music Education at Marmara University. As part of Erasmus Cultural Exchange Program, she studied at the Academy of Music in Gdansk, Poland during 2007 – 2008 academic year. Back in Turkey in 2008, Seray Kalelioğlu continued her piano studies with İris Şentürker and she took part in various domestic projects ever since. She performed as pianist in the theatrical production “Bir Şehnaz Oyun” staged by the Istanbul State Theater. She played the Étude in C-sharp minor, Op. 2, No. 1 by Alexander Scriabin in the exhibition “Sarkis” and featured on the self-titled documentary filmed by NTV news channel. She has been teaching piano in a number of educational establishments. She was the musical director of the play titled “Bir Şehnaz Oyun” in Kültür University in which she also performed on piano. In 2010, she studied piano with Prof. Katherine Faricy in Minnesota, United States. Since 2011 she has been studying chamber music with Jerfi Aji, and piano with Ayşegül Sarıca as part of her graduate degree studies at ITU’s Dr. Erol Üçer Center for Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM).Seray Kalelioğlu is the creator as well as the author of the blog “klasikmuzikistanbul”.
