I am a second-generation Fiji Island feminist, the great-grandaughter of Girmit’Mas Sukhdei and Jinki and #FeministNaniJi to Aadarsh.I am passionate about contributing and nurturing an information and communication ecosystem that results in the production and distribution of information and media content that reflects diverse women's voice and experiences to celebrate and claim their ideas for innovation and realise transformative change. My work commitment is to progress feminist practice and women's rights using an inclusive peace, development and humanitarian nexus approach to build and sustain peaceful and inclusive societies drawing on my work with #communityradio & developing inclusive inter-operable information-communication systems and content including the co-creation of #WomensWeatherWatch in #Fiji.Between 2010 –2012 I coordinated civil society input into the development of the Pacific Regional Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (2012-2015) and successfully lobbied to support GPPAC Pacific to get two significant words - “climate change” - into the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2242 (2015). In 2020 I coordinated input in the UN Peacebuilding Architecture Review and remains actively engaged in driving a localised and inclusive peace-development-humanitarian nexus approach in inter-governmental processes and in the past year I have been a member of the Generation Equality Forum WPS-Humanitarian Action Compact Task Force.As the Regional Representative of the Shifting the Power Coalition I supported 24 diverse Pacific Island women leaders and young women and their networks to enhance their collective power, influence, and leadership to redesign systems & access resources to lead local responses to disasters and humanitarian crises including climate change and health pandemics such as COVID19. I am excited to be associated with the establishment of the GPPAC Pacific Programme - Pacific Women Mediators Network.
