A graduate of Dokuz Eylul University, Dr. Temel earned a Ph.D. from the Department of Economics. Between 2004 and 2008, Dr. Temel, has worked as director of the Aegean Innovation Relay Centre (IRC-Ege), which is one of the centers of the European Union Commission established by the IRC Network. This center was recognized as the most successful Technology Transfer Office in the network by the EU commission. In addition to the positions and projects described earlier, Dr. Temel has published over 20 articles on innovation, R&D, and university-industry collaboration. He has been involved in 12 EU-supported projects and five national projects as a project manager or an expert. Currently, Dr. Temel is coordinator of two ongoing research projects, namely, Izmir Innovation Strategy and Defining R&D and Innovation Capacity of Aegean Region. Mentoring Albania during establisment of Enterprise Europe Network services including technology transfer, business collaboration and research partnership.

Working on to analyse the societal impact of research projects supported by TUBITAK as well as commercialization of research results.

I will be conducting research on academic entrepreneurship to understand the role of the university ecosystem and cultural differences in their success. I will also provide lectures, seminars, and mentoring support to SMEs, students, and academic entrepreneurs. I will also collaborate with ERC UK for joint activities and research.

I am responsible for analysing R&D and innovation ecosystem, the R&D and innovation indicators and participate working group discussions in order to capture potential bottle necks and further recommendations to recommend new policies to improve Turkish R&D and innovation performance.

I am responsible for business development, IP management as well as commercialization of research results. I am guiding researchers to access external funds such as Horizon Europe, EIC, and British Academy for their innovative projects and help them to connect with industry representatives for contracted research and technology development.
