Designed and developed system architecture and message flows for a new context-aware protocol to realise IoT integration with 5G networks. Design and software development in MATLAB, of a hierarchical network structure formed of clusters of devices, which is dynamically and asynchronously modified according to device status and network conditions by a distributed protocol. Demonstrated that up to 200% performance improvement in achievable uplink throughput in cellular networks by augmenting ad hoc connectivity. Published a conference paper in IEEE SECON 2010 conference, Best Paper Award.Improved the throughput gained with network coding by up to 390%, using an algorithm for intelligent selection of link-level receivers and transmission rates. Published 1 conference paper in IEEE INFOCOM 2010, and 1 journal paper in IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.Developed a realistic physical layer module for the Network Simulator 2 (ns2) simulator, capable of supporting 802.11b BPSK modulation and adaptive transmission rate control, using Network Simulator 2 (ns2) and MATLAB.Acquired skills for carrying out experiments with a wireless testbed of 40 nodes using Click Router.

Tools and systems for analysing geophysics images

Medium access control protocols in wireless sensor networks and ad hoc networks. Analysis of wireless sensor networks in randomly deployed environments. Statistical modeling of information propagation capability in sensor networks.

Designed and implemented DNS services for wireless ad hoc networks, as part of mobile ad hoc networking solution of Motorola. Successfully modified the AODV routing protocol to enable support for DNS. This was achieved in Linux platforms using the C programming language. Successfully implemented a name server module to support interaction between AODV and Linux Resolver Library.Met the performance requirements of the designed system via system tests on a testbed of Linux laptops with various application programs, such as video streaming in wireless channel.Received Motorola’s Bravo Award for outstanding performance in internship.
