In this role, I provided bioinformatic support for therapeutic and platform level projects including vector designs for therapy and gene editing programs, bisulfite sequencing analysis, custom NGS analysis of AAV data sets, and development of novel AAV components. I frequently collaborate with groups across the company to meet deadlines for development programs. I also supervise two direct reports.

I fulfilled diverse genomic needs while HMI was a small startup. I led AAV gene therapy construct design for human therapeutic programs, including developing a bioinformatic pipeline to determine unique homology arms for gene editing discovery constructs and compiling genetic module screens to optimize vector performance. I created a bioinformatic workflow to quantify genome editing events via NGS and trained new staff on NGS and bioinformatic techniques. I also supervised a senior research associate and managed setup of clean PCR lab spaces.

I led and collaborated on projects through feasibility, development, and verification for implementation in the carrier screening section of GSG's CLIA and CAP certified lab. In this capacity, I conducted and analyzed experiments utilizing data derived from NGS, MLPA, and other methods and interfaced with other technical and non-technical groups to bring projects to launch.

I performed my PhD work in the laboratory of Rick Bushman in the department of microbiology, where I spearheaded the successful methods development of amplicon-based assays to characterize fungal and archaeal populations in complex microbiome samples and designed and programmed a sequence classifier for taxonomic attribution of high throughput fungal and protozoan sequence data. Additionally, I presented my work at lab meetings, department-wide forums, and poster sessions.
