As a 3rd grade ICT teacher, I co- teach in a classroom with 34 amazing students, 35% of which have IEPs. It is a challenging role that has allowed me to explore different classroom management techniques, various co- teaching strategies and multi- sensory ways to deliver instruction.

Running the social media for IndieReader has been an exciting experience that has given me the opportunity to explore different skill sets. I create Instagram posts based off of different blog updates, book reviews or current events in the field. IndieReader's purpose is to create a location for independently published books to be reviewed and written about- by authors and writers, for authors and writers.

In my full time student teaching experience, I worked in a Kindergarten classroom consisting of 23 students. Throughout the semester, I slowly took over lead rolls in the classroom such as facilitating lessons, guiding transitions, adapting school wide disciplinary policies and developing my own classroom management strategies. In the last weeks of my student teaching, I aided my cooperating teacher in the transition to online instruction due to the outbreak of COVID-19. This unforeseen challenge gave me the opportunity to expand my mindset on what it means to be a teacher and the importance of reaching students in a time of need.

As a peer advisor, I worked directly with undergraduate, graduate and prospective students within the College of Education. I assisted these students in a variety of ways from helping them create academic plans to coordinating appointments with academic advisors. Another role was to support office staff by processing transcripts, working events and providing individual assistance. Working in the College of Education has given me insight on how an office runs and what goes into creating a supportive higher education advising environment.

Over the course of three summers, I worked full days with a family of 3 children, ages ranging from 3-12. My responsibilities included meal prep, transportation, swim supervision and general childcare.

My placement at Fell Elementary, involved working in a pull- out learning support classroom for students with IEPs once a week. Throughout my time there, I worked with 2nd and 5th graders in math and literacy. This opportunity fulfilled my special education practicum and gave me experience working with students with learning disabilities.

My placement at Sheppard Elementary School was in 1st grade general education classroom, consisting of 50% ELL Spanish speaking students, once a week for the entirety of my junior year. Being in the classroom from September- May, allowed me to develop relationships with the students in the class. I worked with students in small groups, one on one and occasionally facilitated whole group lessons.
