Serena Ellsworth is a Hospital Pharmacy Technician at Saint Luke's East Hospital at Saint Luke's Health System. Colleagues describe her as "On top of being incredibly kind, generous and empathetic, Serena has an incredible eye for detail and comes into work everyday with patient safety in mind. She easily adapts to many situations and the constant changing rules and regulations in the pharmaceutical industry. Pharmacy impacts patient care in so many aspects, but a key component is Teamwork - a trait Serena exemplifies. I had the pleasure of being trained by Serena at Centerpoint Medical Center as a pharmacy technician and she leads by example. She not only recognizes complex problems with our processes, but offers creative and realistic solutions to help the department grow and improve. While working with Serena, she took on the tedious task of creating reference sheets for standard operating procedures within the department that are available for technicians to reference at any time. These have helped both current and new employees and has improved the flow of the department by making sure everything gets done on each shift. She often offers to come in on days that she is not working to help the department with staffing needs and even has stayed late to ensure tasks are completed. It's this dedication to teamwork that makes me feel very lucky to know Serena and she continues to lead by example every single day."
