Teaches World Literature, Humanities, & Women's and Gender Studies courses. Uses high impact practices including a variety of digital humanities tools and methods in a flipped classroom environment. Chaired the University Promotion & Tenure Committee for two years. Participated in BBIP (University of Kansas) Emerging Scholars Program (2019-2020 and consultant 2020-21). Served as founder and co-chair of Black Faculty & Staff Association. Researches Margaret Walker (author), Chicago Black Renaissance, Black Arts Movement, and Afrofuturism.

Taught World Literature and Humanities courses using texts such as Ben Okri's "The Famished Road" and Chimamanda Adichie's "Half of a Yellow Sun." Chaired the Pamplin AHSS Tenure and Promotion Committee. Developed digital curricula. Specialized in African, African Diaspora, and Women's literatures and cultural and gender studies.

Began as assistant professor. Promoted to associate professor in 2004. Taught World Humanities, World Literature, Women's Literature, African and African Diaspora Literatures, and English Composition.

Directed ASU's Women's Studies Program, an interdisciplinary academic program. Collaborated with faculty and administrators. Fulfilled curriculum development and community organizing duties. Supervised student assistant. Fundraised and managed a budget for a program without a designated funding line. Appointed by Chair of English and Foreign Languages.

Coordinated ASU's Minority Advising Program, a University System of Georgia initiative to promote the retention of minority students. Fulfilled curriculum development and programming duties. Managed two budgets- state and university. Worked with Institutional Research to generate minority retention reports.Attended and presented at state-wide MAP/MRO meetings. Supervised two student assistants. Appointed by Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Taught developmental writing courses for adult learners.

Coordinated the library's adult education program housed in the Boys and Girls Club located within a public housing community. Recruited and trained tutors. Taught GED and Life Skills Courses. Staffed the adult education computer center.
