Serge BESSE graduated from the University of Paris (Paris XI and Paris VII) in physico-chemistry and electrochemistry. From 1980 till 1981, he worked as R&D engineer for the French Institute of Oil (IFP) in the "Propulsion and Energy" Department.He then joined EPCI (Entreprise de Physico-Chimie Industrielle) in 1982, and after the merge of EPCI with SORAPEC SA in 1986, he participated then managed the developments of new generation of electrochemical devices (fuel cells, batteries, etc …). In 1995 he was named at the Executive Committee of SORAPEC as manager of the Fuel Cell Department.From January 2003 till February 2004, he worked for SALAMANDRE SAS, a consultancy company in Strategy, as a consulting expert for the new technologies in energy.Since 2004, Serge BESSE works for AREVA Energy Storage, a 100% subsidiary of AREVA Renewable Business Group, where he managed R&D projects. Appointed in 2008 as a member of the Executive Committee, he is now managing the Technology Department. Since 2006, he has also been recognized as one of the Senior Experts of the AREVA Group.
