The FGL Sports Ltd. (Forzani Group) is a Calgary, Alberta based national sporting goods retailer in Canada. In this fast passed role, our team was providing monitoring 7d/24h monitoring, alerting and escalation of the overall IT operating environment for the purposes of assuring business continuity. This job function works in rotating 12-hour shifts bi-weekly. Responsibilities included:• Monitoring operational environment across IT, including all systems, core applications, network storage, telecommunications, network communications, corporate and franchise store networking, scheduled Control-M jobs. • Maintaining the datacenter by providing continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity levels, including assisting the datacenter administrator with cabling, racking, and de-racking equipment.• Managing data backups on Commvault, including the handling of offsite backup media transfers. Keep tracking of Quantum LTO4 Tapes from Datacentre to Recall.• Working with corporate and franchise store systems to ensure nightly maintenance processes are executed. • Generating trouble tickets to track events and incidents. Provide end-to-end ownership of all events and incidents. • Troubleshooting and escalating events and incidents to internal/external support teams utilizing the established support matrix. • Communicating system or application outages to the business using established communication templates. This includes driving all update communications during outages. • Conducting daily meetings with support teams and managers to focus on current IT events and incidents for purposes of Incident Management and Root Cause Analysis. This includes the management of all materials discussed during the meeting. • Documenting key business processes and procedures for the purposes of enhancing the Production Operations knowledge base. • Maintaining inventory of daily and nightly activities for SOX compliance.

In this fast passed role I was responsible for technical support of our clients by implementing integrated corporate data systems under the Universal Accounting® trademark. The technology for data storage and processing, full set of necessary options, compliance with the main requirements of an ERP-class system – all these allow to complexly automate client’s business and optimize processes. I was focused on clients’ needs to ensure management information system meets all requirements. Maintaining and configuring of “Universal Accounting” include further process steps:• Installation, migration of Oracle database products: 9i/10g/11g.• Creating a backup schedules, testing recovery processes using Toad and shell scripts to ensure timely Oracle database system recovery.• Appling Oracle patches / software upgrades with less downtime.• Providing helpdesk assistance, consultations by phone/RDP/in person to satisfy clients’ needs.• Providing training to client’s system administrator.
